This report was developed by the European Environment Agency to analyse the ways green infrastructure and ecosystem services are able to deal with climate change impacts and weather events. Green infrastructure like forests, wetlands and other natural ecosystems have the potential to regulate water and to prevent many of the climate impacts. The report describes examples of these nature based solutions and have indicated that the costs of green infrastructure can be less expensive than developing grey infrastructure to deal with climate change impacts. Furthermore, the green infrastructure is able to provide a wide array of co-benefits for local economies and the society.
